South African councilor Thembinkosi Zoleka shot dead at his home

Thembinkosi Zoleka, the councilor of African National Congress, has been confirmed dead after he was shot in his bed at his home at Phillips Road around KwaZulu-Natal, around 11pm on Thursday night. According to Timeslive, Zoleka, who is popularly known as 'Commando', was found dead in his bedroom following a single gunshot wound to the head.

A statement released by Mdumiseni Ntuli, a spokesman of the ANC, KwaZulu-Natal party confirmed the demise of Zoleka.


‘The African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal is shocked and saddened by the brutal murder of one of its activist. Details regarding his murder are sketchy but he was attacked in his sleep when the assassin gained entrance to the house through the window. He was shot while his wife and children were in the dining room studying and the suspect used the same window to escape.’
The KwaZulu-Natal police team will be launching an investigation to apprehend the culprit.
