Muhammed took in 30 IDPs who fled violence. "If I don't stand up for them in Maiduguri, they could be victimized"

More than 90% of the 2.4 million displaced persons across northeast Nigeria are living with host communities. 40-year old Muhammed and his family have taken in 30 displaced persons, including children who have fled violence in Borno state.

"If I don’t stand up for them here in Maiduguri, they could be easily be victimized. So we take care of them, ensuring them of their safety and security," says Muhammed.

"I am happy and motivated but I don't have much time to care for my direct family," he added.
