UEFA Hits HARD At England, Russia Over Euro 2016 Violence

An ‘utterly disgusted’ UEFA has heavily slammed England and Russia over violence of their fans on Saturday and also warned they would be disqualified from Euro 2016 if fan violence continues.
ESPN reports that the executive committee of European football’s governing body warned the English Football Association (FA) and the Russian Football Union (RFS) that “it will not hesitate to impose additional sanctions.”

The football body, in a statement, that both teams faced “the potential disqualification of their respective teams” from the tournament in France.
The statement added: “We urge both the FA and the RFS to appeal to their supporters to behave in a responsible and respectful manner.
“We would also like to publicly voice our support for the work of the French authorities and security forces for their efforts to deliver a safe and secure tournament in challenging circumstances.”
The development comes after UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against Russia after crowd trouble marred Saturday’s 1-1 draw with England.
The action was in connection with crowd disturbances, racist behaviour and fireworks being set off during the game at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.
UEFA has not so far taken any action against the FA.
UEFA said in a statement that it expressed “utter disgust for the violent clashes that occurred in the city centre of Marseille, and its serious concern for the incidents at the end of the match inside Stade Velodrome.
“This kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable and has no place in football.”
Also included in the statement: “UEFA acknowledges that there were segregation issues at Stade Velodrome and will implement corrective measures to strengthen the deployment of security personnel at stadiums, in close collaboration with local authorities.”
A fine for Russia is the most likely punishment, although they could face a possible points deduction.
