Popular South African Comedian and actor, Siya B allegedly turned into a joke at a comedy gig.
According to Daily Sun SA, he was even booed off stage at the annual Simphiwe Shembe Comedy Picnic.
Born Siyabonga Mthembu (Radebe) in Ntuzuma, north of Durban, the funnyman who stars on Mzansi Magic’s drama Saints & Sinners, was drunk when he took to the stage.
It’s alleged that instead of dishing out jokes, he bragged about his s*x life.
A source, who attended the gig at the Botanic Gardens in Durban last Sunday, said the TV star allegedly swore at everyone who booed him.
But when the SunTeam contacted Siya B for comment, he neither denied nor confirmed that he was booed off stage.
For his part, Siya sad: “I hadn’t been to Durban for a long time and I saw some of my friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. I think I over-enjoyed myself, and by the time I got on to the stage, I was too drunk. But I apologised to the people for getting on stage drunk.”
A source claimed: “He attacked Sunday Sun for publishing a story on how he discovered his real surname later in his life.”
Sunday Sun reported that Siya recently changed his surname to Mthembu.
Siya said: “I complained about the papers writing about my surname as that’s a family matter and by writing about it that they’ve dragged my dad into it.”
Another source claimed: “Everyone could see he was drunk and people got annoyed when he bragged about how he had sex at 13.”
For his part, Siya sad: “I hadn’t been to Durban for quite a long time and I saw some of my friends I hadn’t seen for a very long time that weekend. I think I over-enjoyed myself and by the time I got on to stage, I was too drunk. But I apologised to the people for getting on stage drunk.”
The mole said Siya was saved from further embarrass-ment by organiser, Simphiwe Shembe, who walked him off stage. Asked for comment, Simphiwe said: “I hope you didn’t see Siya B. I don’t know what happened. I hope you’ll only write about positive stuff.”
The source said when Simphiwe returned, he couldn’t find the booze hamper – the prize for the raffle.
Our mole added: “Simphiwe asked where the hamper had gone, and the audience screamed, ‘Siya B drank it!’”
Radio, comic and TV star Skhumba Hlophe was in the line-up.
“What I can only say is that I hadn’t been to Durban for quite a long time and I saw some of my friends I hadn’t seen for a very long time that weekend. I think I over-enjoyed myself and by the time I got on stage, I was too drunk. But I apologised to the people for getting on stage drunk. I also complained about the papers writing about my surname as that’s a family matter and by writing about it they’re dragging my dad into it, although he’s not a public figure,” he said.
